The book is primarily designed for undergraduate students of English Language Education or related programs who are taking an introductory course in language testing. It can also serve as a useful reference for teachers, teacher trainers, and anyone interested in understanding how language assessment supports effective teaching and learning. The explanations are written in basic and natural English to help students grasp both the theoretical foundations and practical applications of testing and assessment. Each chapter explores one essential aspect of language testing. The discussion begins with fundamental concepts such as the relationship between teaching, assessment, and testing, and continues with deeper topics including traditional and alternative assessments, the design of objective and subjective tests, and key qualities of good tests such as validity and reliability.
